IN THE NEWS
For bike to work week, the two patagonia stores in NYC put my bikes in their windows. What a thrill. The environmental editor of their blog happened to be in town, and decided to do a piece on me. Nice!
Also, go check out the article in American Craft magazine.
I had knee surgery on tuesday. It was #3. It went SO much better than expected. The MRI showed an osteochondral lesion, and they were threatening micro-fracture therapy, which would have left me on crutches for 6 weeks. But when they got in there, they decided it wasn't so bad (or maybe that it was lunch time..) and just pulled out some torn meniscus and scar tissue. I'm on a cane now, but needing it less and less. I went out to the shop yesterday to try and do a little work. I lasted for about an hour and a half before I was too swollen/tired/frustrated. Better luck today.

I GOT A NEW GETTER!
Recently, the first frame I ever built made its way up to me from Austin TX (where I put it together.. in Whitney Moyer's shop).
It seemed fitting that it should be my daily ride. My lock-up bike. My getter. Yesterday I made a front rack for it, and took it for its maiden voyage. I rode down to pick Hill up from her job at Patagonia in Soho. Ran a few errands on the way.. picked up some film and chemicals, socks, groceries on the way home. 20 miles and lbs later, I arrived home feeling very glad that it wasn't all in a back pack (and that I hadn't just ridden my SS xtracycle that far).

Welcome to Fast Boy cycles
We're live! Hard to believe. Megan Ann did the site and I love it. Please feel free to shoot her an email with any feedback.
I'd like to thank all of you who've been in the wings rooting for me. This has been a lot to bite off.. knowing that you're there has been a comfort.
For those who've been inquiring about fenders: Currently I'm busy enough with frame and full bike orders, that keeping up with the wood just isn't possible. Down the road, if there's a lull, or if I get some help around here (unlikely), I'll shoot an email out to the mailing list to let you know about their triumphant return (in the mean time.. order a bike!).
