and ready to go and hear what these docs have to offer me. Full report this afternoon.
A gift from the very talented lizzie wortham, for whom putney has done a little e-modeling!
Saw this on my way out the door for some lunch today. Was struck again at how beautiful the byproducts of work can be!
Bumped into these two while riding around checking out storm damage in Astoria
look at this tangle of thorns
I like potatoes. A lot. My brother sent me a 50lb bag (that weighs 56lbs) of German Butterballs from 4 corners farm in VT. The UPS guy said, "shit, this is heavy.. What's in here." "Potatoes.." "What!!?" His helper for the day.. a newbie, said "Why you don't just get them here? They all taste the same.." Hmm. I'd have agreed with him if he was right. Better invite him over for dinner sometime. I asked putney which she thought was bigger, 56lbs of potatoes or 56 lbs of dog. She had a pretty clear answer.
best Thai I've had in NYC. So very good. (yes, Yohei. I will take you to there..)
No, pup. It looks like you're a retread.
is great for hair sculpture
Putney has assumed her post.
(my table saw has a 3hp baldor motor!)
Our niece, Vern (Violet), came to visit. More the moment I get a chance.
One of the great advantages of a custom bike is that you can really dial in the fit. I think I nailed it on this one.
the other day as I came in from the shop, I passed Sam working on his bike. The light was nice. I decided to break out the texas leica (fuji gw690). Gotta say. For me, it's still magic.
I know I've already posted plenty, but I had my bessa with me when I shot this bike, and took a few pictures.
as dinner was winding down, in the back yard in the dark - "Ez, there's nothing on the table that I wouldn't baptize my children in" She had just had octopus for the first time.
for Jenny A. Putney this morning. Sulking because hill is out of town.
I feel like I've taken this EXACT photo quite a number of times..
got around to making some stools for the kitchen..
all cut from a too-small off-cut of an oak table top that I found on the street. The rest became a table for my brother's house. (the legs make it look like I was shooting with a fisheye! Actually 50mm).
Hill and I went to visit our niece, vern, in chicago over the weekend. She LOVES bath time.
Mega Nann was here for three days last week. We miss her terribly!
A little piece of jewelry for Patrick's bike..
annual pig bird photo..
who is clearly driving a tractor in this shot
Shot a roll of tri-x in my f100 up in Nova Scotia.. Just got around to developing it.
last night was our last dinner on our own up here. Thought we'd treat ourselves. We've got a friend for dinner tonight, and tomorrow I head off to the airport to pick up my folks who will be here for the rest of the summer. We'll overlap with them for a few nights and then hit the road early Sunday morning. Sniff.
Lunenburg sausage, new potatoes, lamb's quarters, and asparagus tomato salad (with a little finger). the story.
Yesterday we went out fishing for mackerel in the afternoon with our new pal, Rose. It was COOOOld and wet. The mackerel weren't running. So we came back and started a fire to thaw out our hands, and got some lamb shanks going. It made for a sort of late dinner.
went to Greg and Janina's place and made a super yummy ceviche with some haddock that greg got fresh off the boat as it came in (in fact the guy brought it by.. but you get my drift). Freshest fish I've had that I didn't catch myself! New friend Colin's hands.
couldn't find any bread crumbs on the island, and didn't feel like making any.. breaded the chops with some corn meal and found it awfully tasty! Swiss chard and brown rice with mushrooms.
still trying to take a picture of this place that shows the magic of the setting, and the perfection of the house. Probably my favorite spot on the planet.
on the way back from a morning adventure on lahave, we swung by a neighbor's place to see if they were in. Found their boat capsized.
lunenburg sausage, nova scotia potatoes, and beet greens.
I shot with my bessa while in NO. Didn't even take the d700. There's something about being on the road without a computer that makes the instant gratification of digital less of a pull. Hadn't shot with the bessa for a while. Fell back in love. These color ones were on some expired fuji pro 400h, developed at the crazy one hour place around the corner... instant LOMO!

She belongs to a neighbor, and she and putney have become good pals. We try gently to convince these neighbors that they don't really need a dog.. especially not a vicious one like this, what with their young kids and all.

We're back in NYC after a CRAZY week in N.S. It was PERFECT! Now for the NYC party! This saturday. The 13th. Write me for directions if you can make it. You're all invited.
and back in NYC
the 'billsam' bar (for distinguished ladies and gentlemen). Designed and built in the old man's shop and in his honor (r.i.p.). As has been the case for a while, you can get fast boy bars when you order a fast boy bike.
To honor the old man, I've developed a new shape of handlebar. The 'Billsam' naturally. This is the third lay up, drying by the old ashley stove in the shop. Pictures of finished bars any moment now.
only one treatment to go.
your kidneys are showing! Every year, I cook rabbit for easter. This year it was a braised, and then made into a dry ragu with olives and shallots.. we ate it on top of homemade tagliatelle.. yum. With asparagus. And some wine. It occurs to me looking at this, that this little guy is striking a very putney-esque pose.. I wonder how she'd taste? also reminds me a little of this a little..
one of the stranger side effect of the chemo therapy has been the growth of an extra eye.

Putney made my costume. I didn't help her at all.. I swear.
My mom spent the last week up in vermont moving stuff out of our house up there so that we can sell it. She went through boxes of old pictures and threw a bunch out, but rescued the ones that she thought were important. This has always been one of my favorites. Hill looked at it and said, "yup.. I see you do that at least once a day"
some photograghs.
